Developmental Education
Lenoir Community College supports the success of all students. In order to ensure student success in college-level English and math, certain students may be required to take Developmental Education courses. For more information, see placement requirements below.
Placement Requirements:

Students with an unweighted high school GPA of a 2.799 or less (or other approved placement scores such as ACT or SAT) must enroll in developmental courses.

Students with an unweighted high school GPA of 2.8 or higher may register for any gateway English or math course without mandatory additional supports.
Developmental Courses
Designated developmental courses should be completed within the first two semesters of enrollment at Lenoir Community College. Developmental courses are offered in English and math each semester to prepare students for required program courses. Advisors along with the Academic Support Center & Developmental Education Transition Coordinator can advise students concerning the need to register for and complete developmental courses.
ENG 110/MAT 110 Retake Policy: Students who take ENG 110 or MAT 110 as their first attempt at college-level English or math and do not pass will be required to successfully complete Developmental English and/or Math before retaking the course.
